Tony A. Quinn, ASLA

Bachelor of Landscape Architecture 1994
University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign

Associate in Architecture 1991
Illinois Central College, East Peoria

Tony’s passion in design started in the education of architecture as he gained valuable experience and insight to the profession with the architecture firm Phillips Swager Associates in Peoria, Illinois. While building a base of education in studying the form and function of architecture he became interested in how the built environment directly affects a site and the ability of the site to be positively affected by creative planning. Upon continuing the path of this curiosity he joined the civil engineering firm of Zumwalt and Associates, in Peoria, Illinois, to understand the ideals of design and construction of the physical and natural built environment. It was these years of education and work experience that sparked Tony’s interest to pursue an education in landscape architecture.

After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, Tony relocated to Chicago and began his career at Rocco Fiore and Sons, Inc., a landscape architecture design/build firm in the North Shore suburbs. At this company he gained valuable leadership experience in managing and directing a design studio of team members ranging from interns to entry level designers to senior landscape architects. His ten years of experience at the firm carried him from entry-level landscape designer to design manager and finally to director of design and sales.

Tony’s enthusiasm for succeeding in the design studio has allowed him opportunities for design lecture engagements at accredited design universities as well as the Chicago Botanic Garden. Other highlights of past accomplishments include several ILCA design awards and volunteering time to direct a yearly national design competition between landscape architecture students for the American Landscape Contractors Association. Tony is currently involved with the Executive Committee of the Illinois Chapter ASLA and is seeking certification on rooftop design, engineering, and conservation efficiencies associated with the “Green Rooftop Movement”. He envisions Culliton Quinn to continually volunteer with the ASLA for support and to help educate the public and prospective students about creative and effective landscape architecture and its importance on today’s environment.
