During his Studies at the University of Illinois Brian began his
interest in studying cultural landscapes by traveling with a
group of students and professors in both architecture and landscape
architecture throughout China. Upon graduating with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Landscape Architecture in 1994, he journeyed throughout
Japan on the University of Illinois Landscape Architecture program’s
Ryerson Traveling Fellowship for a period of eight months. This
experience began a strong foundation for what has become Brian’s
quest to be a well educated and traveled landscape architect.
This important trip also became the base of Culliton Quinn’s vision for an important company belief: to travel and gain knowledge
from culturally historic and innovative new garden designs from
around the world.
As co-founder of Culliton Quinn, Brian has ten years
of previous experience in the landscape architecture design/build
industry on Chicago’s North Shore. Before Culliton Quinn,
Brian spent the last eight years of his training as a landscape
architect/project manager with Rocco Fiore and Sons, Inc. under
the direction of the company owners, landscape architects and project
managers. His passion for design and project management moved him
toward emphasizing creativity throughout his designs, both in the
design studio and in the field, with a precision and accuracy toward
detail that has gained him immediate respect in the industry.
Since 2001, Brian has been volunteering
his time to teaching a winter design seminar to students and
professionals alike with other colleagues in the industry for
the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). He has
also developed an enthusiasm over the years for seeking out specimen
plant material that has taken him on many travels throughout
the Midwest and East coast. These trips have allowed him to study
the vernacular landscape of the region and continue to drive
his passion to personally locate and tag all specialty plant
material for Culliton Quinn.
