This residence, recently completed in the summer of 2004, was designed to capture the essence of a detailed, historic Chicago greystone. Concepts explored ideas for entertaining, strolling and responding to the architect's design elements of the home
.

The entry garden captures the attention of all that pass or enter the property. The designs of the iron elements were taken from a combination of the details apparent from the limestone façade. The monochromatic green gardens were uniquely figured to allow strolling in such a confined garden space. Upright flowering pear trees and hedges of boxwood dictate the outer frame work of the site. Garden art will eventually be introduced to add an additional dimension to the spaces. An oval limestone detail reinforced with a clipped boxwood hedge will accompany a limestone urn centerpiece with seasonal floral. The north to south axial view of the front space will terminate to a custom designed, high back bench to reflect the complexity of the front design elements.

The south side of the residence contains a terraced pool area for entertainment and play. Upright Red Maples were planted to visually soften an adjacent house, while adding greenery to the confined space. A green wall of arborvitae was utilized as an evergreen wall of privacy with a custom designed gate and fence closing off undesirable views of the alley. The first and second floor terraces were designed to accommodate the use for dining and entertaining. The flooring is finished with oversized pieces of limestone, set on a pedestal leveling system, that compliment the design and style of the stone apparent in the front and side facades of the residence. A rooftop deck, an extension of the recreation room, was finished in a custom cut Ipe decking system resembling hardwood flooring.
